soho cinders

12 - 16 november 2024

Director: Sian Bowles Bevan

Musical Director: Jack Elsdon

Choreographer: Emma Knight

Production Manager: Suzanne Yeates

Music and lyrics by Stiles and Drew (Betty Blue Eyes, Just So, Honk, Mary Poppins, Kipps) with Elliot Davis as co-author. The potent mix of politics, sex-scandals and true love come together in this contemporary musical with an infectious score that you’ll be humming long past the stroke of midnight! Much is written about Soho Cinders being a ‘modern day version of Cinderella’.  While there are nods to the fairy tale, this is not a pantomime. The plot intertwines elements of the classic fairy tale with contemporary urban political scandal. It is full of wonderful songs with a witty script that explore the challenges of; prejudice and discrimination, sexism, class, power and the dirty world of politics. The show manages to address these, while still offering wonderfully light hearted moments and upbeat music.
