The Emerald Isle

Byfeld Hall

3rd-6th February 1912

The Emerald Isle; or, The Caves of Carrig-Cleena, is a two-act comic opera, with music by Arthur Sullivan and Edward German, and a libretto by Basil Hood.

It premiered at the Savoy Theatre on April 27, 1901, closing on November 9, 1901 after a run of 205 performances.

There was also a brief run in New York at the Herald Square Theatre for just 50 performances, opening on September 1, 1902, and closing on October 18, 1902.

The public and the critics who have witnessed these performances consider that they have attained a high standard of artistic excellence.

On the Financial side it is a pleasure to state that these productions have been self-supporting.

The Committee feel, however, that with all the labour gratuitously expended they should be able to show a substantial credit balance.

With the object of placing the Society on a better financial basis they invite applications for Honorary Membership.

Subscribers of One Guinea are entitled to eight numbered and reserved 3/- stalls per annum (four for each usual production).

Subscribers of Half-a-Guinea are entitled to four numbered and reserved 3/- stalls per annum )two for each usual production).

Honorary Members may join at any time and also have the privilege of attending all (except the final) rehearsals.
