You can now sign up for our Acting through song workshop with Nikki Gerrard!
About the session:
Singing isn’t just about producing a beautiful sound — it’s about living truthfully inside the song.
If you’ve ever found that your storytelling vanishes the moment you start singing, or felt yourself slip into “nice sound” instead of truthful connection, you’re not alone. I’ve been there — many times.
Join Nikki Gerrard for a practical, human exploration of acting through song. We’ll look at how nerves actually work, how to stay connected to thought and intention, how to recover when things go off course, and how story can anchor your technique rather than compete with it.
This is an active and observational session
A little message from Nikki about the format of the session:
“I will greet everyone, explain how the session will work and answer any questions. We will then do a gentle warm up together. Then we will open up discussions about our challenges and how they manifest and start to discuss the process. People will then sing one by one, if they want to, or just observe and learn that way. We will then discuss what we find as we go, address the challenges and work through them together. There will be nerves in the room absolutely, but we’ll all be in it together. It’ll be a super safe space and the reward will balance out the fear…I promise!”
Participants are welcome to perform (bring a song and sheet music/backing track), but there is huge value in watching, listening, and learning without performing.
