RICHMOND THEATRE UPDATE  – Sunday 28 October to Saturday 3 November 2018
On the evening of Wednesday 18 January, at The Plough Pub in East Sheen, the committee were excited to be hosts of an ‘intimate’ launch event for our Production, Creative, Technical and Stage Management talent.

There were presentations from Bob Salter and Louise Ellard-Turnbull who detailed the show selection process and proposed a new team structure which will offer all involved in the project maximum expertise and support.  The committee are confident that this new approach will ultimately enable us to continue to take high quality shows to Richmond Theatre for many years to come.  Prospective creative teams were invited to pitch for one of three shortlisted shows (see below) on Wednesday 22 February.

Our guest speaker was Andy Locke, who alongside Melanie Edwards, has been at the helm of the last 3 Richmond shows. He kindly gave a really entertaining and insightful presentation about the artistic and logistical challenges but also of the many rewards of delivering a Richmond show.

The Richmond Theatre sub-committee made up of Bob Salter, Louise Ellard-Turnbull, Andy Yeates and Matt Madeley, had spent the Autumn of 2016 going through a rigorous brainstorming and research process. The show selection criteria were:

    • Appeal to RT Audience
    • Appeal to membership
    • Financial viability

After several meetings with Richmond Theatre management and making rights investigations, three shows were chosen which both the wider committee and the theatre would be confident to stage. And the three shows are:

  • Singing in the Rain
  • Sweet Charity
  • High Society
So all being well we should be able to announce which of these fabulous shows will be the BROS RT show for 2018 in the next edition of Chorus Lines.
