The committee are very excited to announce that our show for Richmond Theatre 2018 is going to be Cole Porter’s ‘High Society’!
Congratulations go to the Creative Team of Deb McDowell (Director), Janet Simpson (MD), Carole Smith (Assistant MD) and Jen Moorhead (Choreographer). They wowed us with their incredible production of ‘The Producers’ at Hampton Hill last year and, if Debs’ presentation is anything to go by, we are certain they will wow us again at Richmond next year.
At the helm, in the role of Producer, calmly guiding everyone through the production side of things will be Julie Thomas. Julie has a long history with BROS and is currently working for a very successful children’s performance school, ‘British Theatre Academy’. She has also had many years working in fundraising and marketing for the charity sector, so her skills and experience are going to be greatly appreciated by both the committee and the creative team. Welcome back to BROS Julie!
‘High Society’ is a Cole Porter classic ‘feel-good’ musical that the Richmond Theatre management team are very positive about and a show that their core audience will be really enthusiastic to come and see. It’s based on the 1956 film of the same name, starring Grace Kelly, Bing Crosby and Frank Sinatra, which in turn is based on the Phillip Barry play ‘The Philadelphia Story’, made famous by the 1940 film starring Katherine Hepburn, Cary Grant and James Stewart (a double bill dvd opportunity – hoorah!)
So watch out for further news on the auditions process and presentations – what a swell party it’s going to be!
