As most of you may have followed – BROS was recently lucky enough to be recognised for a number of awards presented by NODA, the National Operatic and Dramatic Association.
We appreciate that NODA may be unfamiliar to some of you and so wanted to take this opportunity to give you a bit of information around the organisation and how they continue to provide support to us as an amateur theatre company.
What is NODA?
Founded in 1899 “to protect and advance the interests of operatic and dramatic art, and of societies engaged therein”, NODA’s vision is that amateur theatre is successful and sustainable, providing a range of opportunities for people to develop their skills and enjoy taking part, at all levels.
NODA’s mission is to support the education and information needs of individuals and organisations with high quality services and products that contribute to the success of amateur theatre, as well as encouraging appreciation of the sector by participants and audiences alike.
NODA aims to:
– Give a shared voice to the amateur theatre sector
– Help amateur societies and individuals achieve the highest standards of best practice and performance
– Provide leadership and advice to enable the amateur theatre sector to tackle the challenges and opportunities of the 21st century.
Our regional rep will often be available to provide a constructive review of each one of our productions, of which we also have the opportunity to be nominated for a series of awards presented at the annual NODA London Awards in June.
What does NODA do for us?
NODA also provide fantastic workshop opportunities and even organise a two-week residential summer school offering a range of courses taught and led by industry professionals – this is something we are looking to take full advantage of in the not too distant future.
The NODA website in particular provides a number of resourceful tools that some of you may find of interest – why not check them out by clicking the link above.
Please note that all NODA award winners and nominee certificates will be distributed at the AGM meeting.
