Full members are welcome to audition for and perform in shows and attend unlimited free BROS Academy events (except when an external leader requires a fee – and then at a discounted rate to Resting and Non-Members). Full members can attend all social events, theatre trips and to receive Chorus Lines.
Annual membership: £40 (or £30 if you pay by Standing Order / Direct Debit).
For those unable to, or not wanting to perform, we offer a Resting Member status. BROS Academy events welcome Resting Members on payment of a fee per event. Our valued Resting members are very much part of the BROS family and invited to attend social events, theatre trips and receive Chorus Lines.
Annual membership: £35 (or £20 if you pay by Standing Order / Direct Debit).
In addition to the annual membership fee, we ask all members cast in a production to make a financial contribution to the show in the form of a show fee. This fee is set for each production to reflect the anticipated budget and is often around £100 – slightly higher for productions at venues with higher budgets. However, we do not want financial circumstances to be a barrier to participation, so you can always to speak to the Production Manager or Committee – in confidence – about your specific situation. All details of show fees will be available at the welcome meeting for each show, prior to auditions.
At BROS Theatre Company, we are committed to fostering a respectful, inclusive, and welcoming environment for all individuals, regardless of their background, identity, or abilities. We are dedicated to ensuring a commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion is at the core of everything we do.
Equality: We strive to create a culture that treats all members of BROS with fairness, respect, and dignity. We are committed to providing equal opportunities for participation and involvement, in all aspects of our company from tech and production teams to our cast members. We actively oppose any form of discrimination, including but not limited to race, ethnicity, gender, age, sexual orientation, disability, religion, or socio-economic status. We aim to build an inclusive community where everyone feels valued, heard, and empowered to contribute their talents and perspectives.
Diversity: Embracing diversity allows us to showcase a broad spectrum of stories, perspectives, and talents, enriching our performances and resonating with our audiences on a deeper level. We actively encourage individuals from underrepresented and marginalised groups to join us, ensuring that BROS is a place where everyones backgrounds and experiences are embraced and celebrated.
Inclusion: Inclusivity lies at the heart of BROS, and we continuously strive to create a safe and supportive space for all members. We actively promote an atmosphere where all individuals are heard, seen, and appreciated for their contributions. We encourage open dialogue and feedback, fostering an environment that promotes growth, learning, and understanding. We are committed to removing barriers that may prevent participation and working to accommodate the diverse needs of our members to ensure an inclusive and accessible experience for all.
Empowerment and Education: We recognise that achieving true equality, diversity, and inclusion requires ongoing effort and education. We are committed to continuously learning, evolving, and challenging ourselves to better understand the diverse perspectives of our community. We will actively seek out opportunities to educate ourselves and our members about various forms of discrimination and unconscious biases, striving to be allies and advocates for a more inclusive society both on and off the stage.
As part of this, we are committed to a conscious casting process; making conscious decisions about how a show can be cast, rather than following the “traditional” model that repeats whatever has been done before. We are always open to non-traditional casting, and conscious artistic decisions will be made whenever race, ethnicity, gender, or other factors are a key component of the story or integral to the relationships between characters. Where this is the case, it will be clearly highlighted in character breakdowns.
BROS is a member of the South- West London amateur theatre societies’ Inclusion, Diversity, Equality and Accessibility Group (IDEA): a group of five societies working towards improved diversity and inclusion in am dram. We are open to feedback to improve our processes and create a warm and welcoming
atmosphere that creates opportunities for people of all ethnicities, gender identities and physical abilities.
